"The Boat Drunks' "Wahine Man" is a fiery collection of originals that expand upon the band's musical chops and songwriting subjects. The album is littered with a carefree, Jimmy Buffett-style Take the Weather With You outlook that tackles weighty life issues with a drink in one hand and golden hooks coming from the other hand. Expertly, the Drunks put Buffett's sense of humor to good use by confronting important issues such as how to make the perfect margarita ("Tangy Margaritas") and how to take life with a grain of salt and enjoy every moment ("Wind it Up").
Other tunes on "Wahine Man" revel in the joy of one-night stands ("Torrid Affair"), hilariously demonstrate human fortitude by singing about the perils of attending church on Sunday after a night of debauchery ("Hypo-Christian", written by Jake Tatar and Andy Gaines) and poke fun at washed-up musicians ("Big in Japan").
Though the Boat Drunks' endearing trop-rock sound permeates many of the songs on "Wahine Man," the band cranked out a few country rockers, some genuine rock-and-roll tunes and even delved into swing blues a bit. Two of the tracks -- "A Pirate on the Caribbean" and the crowd favorite, "Hollow Man" -- are revamped versions from the Boat Drunks' previous album, "This Ain't Duval Street." The addition of a saxaphone player to the Drunks' lineup, as well as contributions from several outside musicians, enhance the reworked songs on this CD.
Guest musicians on "Wahine Man" include Doyle Grisham, steel guitar player for Buffett's Coral Reefer Band, Billy Payne and Paul Barrere from Little Feat and Quincy Yates from the trop-rock band St. Elsewhere out of Knoxville, Tennessee.
All in all, "Wahine Man" is a fun CD by a group of solid musicians who love what they do on stage and in the recording studio."

"This fine band has friends from another awesome band Little Feat. These guys will have you dancing till the cows come home from their nightly walks and what not. They're a great escape from reality and they just echo fun through and through, but don't take my word for it, check-em out yourself"
What a blast!

"I first heard the Boat Drunks on Radio Margarittaville late last year. This album is terrific. They've captured some of J.B.'s magic and can take you on a short getaway to the Carribbean while you listen to their music."
A fun discovery

"I heard "I'm Not Calling in Sick, I"m Calling in Gone" on Radio Margaritaville, and I was hooked! Bought Wahine Man and loved it, then just had to backtrack and get This Ain't Duval Street. Talented, fun, lively...definitely Caribbean soul ala Jimmy Buffett. Boat Drunks provide a great escape, especially when stuck in a So. California traffic jam. You just gotta smile! Where do I go to join the party??? I can hardly wait for the next CD!"

"What a wonderful CD! I am new to hearing this band, and without all the details, a band member Larry, turned me on to the Drunks. Having heard about them for years, and getting this CD (Thanks, Larry), I gotta say, this group is superb. The Margaritaville vibe runs seamlessly through this disc, and any fan of Jimmy's has got to walk--no, run--to their local music store and buy this platter. Better yet, you're on Amazon now: get it.
The sparkling air of this CD, with both tiki party tunes and soft tequila breezy numbers, is a Parrothead's dream. I can see why this band is on Margaritaville Radio and plays live with Jimmy. As perfect a match as Gran Marnier and Sauza Gold Tequila.
Bring some sunshine into your home this winter; wear your favorite flowered shirt, string that hammock between the fireplace and the easy chair, get some "booze in the blender", and pop some Wahine Man into your Bose.
