CD ReviewsFun With Korean Pop J. L. Shipp | Richmond, Virginia United States | 06/13/2002 (4 out of 5 stars) "American Pop music has never interested me much since the 80s. I cannot delve into Britney Spears or NSync. BoA is a Korean Pop singer that I got turned on to by word of mouth.I am an avid Music fan, and I am quite picky about what I listen to. My interests range from Paul Oakenfold to Moody Blues. I am not much into much of what mainstream musicians have to offer.Asian Pop music, since I started collecting a variety of CDs, has impressed me in its slick production, complex beats and layering (which you won't find in much American Pop), and solid vocals.Asian Pop & other Asian Musicians seem more daring. They take advantage of many genres. They try new styles often and use a variety of instruments. Its just refreshing. While I am challenged by the lyrics since my native language is English, I find that it allows me to immerse in these diverse cultures. I am in the process of trying to teach myself Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. However, let me focus on BoA, her style is very R*B influenced but with Pop sensibility. Her songs are fun and very danceable. Those who don't even profess to be dancers will find themselves grooving to the beat and nodding their heads. It's contagious. She honestly sounds like an angel. Her voice is smooth, sweet, and she has a good grasp of relating emotion. SaRa, track 4, is sweet with tinges of Melancholiness. Many of BoA's tracks are funky and I highly recommend track 8.I wish I could write more about this young lady, but I think the material speaks for itself. If you want a great introduction to Korean Pop Music, BoA is the one." Exellent Korean Debut ladie_sandy | 04/30/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "This cd is BoA's Korean debut. Its very good. You can tell she has grown musically from this disc to No.1.This disc is pure teen pop.Thats not a bad thing, since she surounds her self with exellent producers and song writers. This disc also contains the original version of "Power"." Boa ladie_sandy | anchorage, ak | 08/14/2002 (4 out of 5 stars) "This album is from a talented girl who started off rusty but has proven herself to be a true talent, shining her star in both korea and japan. This album; however, is a dead give away of her not-yet matured voice. Her title song, ID Peace B, was recorded when she was twelve (she's now 15, turning 16 in November). Depite her young age, she proves that she was born to be a star; her dancing and vocals are amazing. This CD is recommended for those who are into Asian Pop. ..."
