"Since their founding in 1979, the Blues Band has remained one of Britain's best kept secrets in so far as America is concerned. Formed by 60s legends Paul Jones, Tom McGuinness (both ex-Manfred Mann), Dave Kelly, and with changing rhythm and bass members (ex-Bluesbreaker Hughie Flint, Ian Stewart and Rob Townsend among others), this group has provided blues enthusiasts with many often hard-to-find albums of both standards and self-penned winners. Finally here is an American compilation featuring tracks drawn off most of their previous albums, many of them now considered Blues Band standards. Unfortunately a double disc set would have been more welcome, given the extent of their back catalogue and their variety of musical styles. Still, this is an excellent introduction to a group which certainly should be much better known and available to blues afficianados on these shores."
