"So finally one of the most anticipated debut albums this year, "We Stitch These Wounds", has finally landed on the music waves, and I have to say it doesn't disappoint. With a fan fervor that matches the Bieber fever, the Black Veil Brides army can be satisfied with an actual full length CD that they can play over and over again. To the new people finding out about them, their image may be a bit polarizing and off putting. However, I think that the image adds to their overall draw. They want to create a complete band including the good music and a particular look. They have said that they can be whatever kind of band someone wants, and they fulfill that with this album. With some awesome guitars by Jake Pitts and Jinxx, and some great work by Ashley Purdy on bass, they bring in those people that love A7X, BFMV, Atreyu, etc. For anybody who loves good drummers, they will be amazed by Miss Sandra on the drums. Yes, they have a female drummer! She is truly a unique feature to this band. Now, to Mr. Andy Six, he definitely has a beautiful deep voice that is intriguing to listen to. There is intensity in his voice, but also a beautiful melody in songs like "The Mortician's Daughter" and "Carolyn". His voice captures you in songs like "Sweet Blasphemy", "Beautiful Remains", and "Heaven's Calling". Now, in saying that, this album is definitely a first step for this band. It is a little all over the place, and the voice of this band is still being refined. I think with getting this first album under them, and touring around for a while, they will bust out another album that will truly blow all stereotypes away. There is true potential in this band, and "We Stitch These Wounds" showcases that very well. For the fans that have followed them, enjoy having the full length album we have waited so long for. To the people who are unsure, listen to the album and block out the other thoughts you have. You will see potential for this young band!"
Excellent debut album

"What a great start in the physical media world for Back Veil Brides!
I granted 4.5 or 5 stars to most of the songs in the album, which makes it a great debut album. Only one song did not make it with me. Andy Sixx and his band play what I'll call "soft screemo". Still has plenty of punch, although I feel it could use a bit more at times. I am not a great fan of singers who roar indistinctly like they're about to puke a cat from their throat; Thankfully Andy is quite articulate and the guitar playing in every song is magnificent. Recording quality is great and crisp too, you can really hear each instrument and even each separate note.
- The title song "We Stitch These Wounds" (5*) sets the tone to the album, although dumb as I am, I admit it took me a two consecutive listenings to the album to raise it from 4 to 5 stars.
- "Beautiful Remains" (5*) is even more dynamic and screamo, great music, voices and rhythm all over.
- "Children Surrender" (5*) is quite catchy, with great guitar riffs and changes of tone and voice accompaniments. One of my favorite songs after the next two.
- But the highlight of the album is probably "Perfect Weapon" (5*) and "Knives And Pens" (5*). These are songs that will stay with you for life and sell you the whole album on their own merit. Check them out full length on YouTube.
- "Never Give In" (5*) is the actual call to arms of the intro, and the sweet "Carolyn" (5*) is a fantastic song, both are right there with "Children Surrender" behind my 2 other favs.
- The other 4 songs are getting there too, except for "The Mortician's Daughter" (3*), a slow love song that sounds like a filler. It's nice to break the screemo rhythm once in a while, but not at the cost of breaking the album's cohesion. Plus, it should really be named "The Mortician's Son" to be true to Andy's feelings... ^-^
- "All Your Hate" (4.5*) has superb guitar riffs, "Heaven's Calling" (4*) is great too, with its stereo screemo effects, "Sweet Blasphemy" (4.5) should be the anthem of all teenagers. I won't edit this review, but I am pretty sure I'll eventually raise these 3 songs to 5* after a few more listens.
At $13 just a week after its release, you can't go wrong with this album.
Oh, and disregard the 1-star rating from the angry customer that has a grudge against screemo and scene kids, and speaks mostly about the myspace site, the words in the song titles or in the lyrics, the 30-second vocal intro, but never about the music or the album.
If you like debut albums, check out Sweedish teenager Johan Palm's My Antidote. Definitely not screemo, more like rock/pop (I hate stupid labels!), but it's kind of the same "call to arms" sort of theme."
