CD ReviewsDisco fever eveoflove | North York, Ontario Canada | 02/21/2001 (3 out of 5 stars) "Made in CAN in 2000, Serial# DSMM-3035, Playing Time 33:29The odds of anyone reading this (besides myself) are nil, zip, nada. If you are still reading on, you must be 1 of the following, highest probability first: 1) you've pressed the wrong link, and ended up here... 2) you're a member of the band that recorded this and wanted to know what people thought about it; 3) you're the owner of the company that released this CD; 4) you're curious about this band; 5) you've heard of this band; 6) you have this on vinyl and want to get it on CDIf you've stayed with me so far, you deserve some feedback on this disc:Originally released in 1977, this is their first of 2 albums. Put together by some guys from Montreal, some of the tracks on this CD played extensively back then in discotheques in my hometown of Montreal. The arrangements are mainly consisting of strings and percussions, in a fairly attractive disco direction. All the tracks, except for a few vocals on the last track, are instrumentals. 3 of the tracks are strongly inspired by music from other artist: tributes to their art, if you like. Track 1 extrapolates music from Ennio Morricone, more specifically the theme from the movie "Once Upon A Time In The West"; track 4 is an hommage to Barry White, and track 5 from "Exodus".The genre on this album is obviously very 70's, disco with a touch of latin because of the percussion, a bit similar to Santa Esmeralda.I can now retire my vinyl copy of this album; that leaves me looking for the CD version of "This Time", their second and final album. If you've read this review, please take a few seconds to vote on it: as I'm trying to review the more "unknown" releases (instead of the latest U2 or Britney Spears), your feedback is the 1 way to tell me it's worth doing..." Disco Orchestra with a cinematic touch charles bals | ludwigsburg, baden-württemberg Germany | 05/09/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "A very rare diamond for hardcore Disco-Diggers who need more beyond the dose of Boris Midney, Alec R. and Cerrone. Very kitsch-heavy disco symphonies with cheesy horn & string arrangements and a cinematic touch (quite comparable to BIDDU's "Summer of '42" track). All tracks are instrumental except "TOUCH ME TAKE ME" (very cerrone!) - and the best thing: NO SAX-parts! Hope they'll bring out the 2nd LP on CD... enjoy DISCO, not YMCA!" Rare Disco Orchestra with a cinematic touch charles bals | ludwigsburg, baden-württemberg Germany | 05/09/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "If you are an advanced disco-digger and you feel like Boris Midney, Alec R., Salsoul and Cerrone are not enough to get ya hot ... you def should go for this one. Except for "TOUCH ME TAKE ME" (Cerrone-Style) all tracks are instrumental disco symphonies with a cinematic touch (quite comparable to Biddu Orchestras "Summer of '42"). And the best thing is: no sax, but sexy string & horn arrangements... i can only hope that they'll bring the other LP... the real disco fan knows more beyond salsoul... keep hustling"
