CD ReviewsHappy Club cd spreads happiness Marianne Devlin | USA | 05/28/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I'm a second grade teacher who's always on the lookout for appropriate and appealing music to share with my students. "Thank You for Joining the Happy Club" is a HUGE success in my classroom! We listen during our free moments (unpacking in the AM, snacktime, any time there's a spare minute or two), and the kids love it. It's positive, cheerful, and, to quote the kids "not babyish at all". Even when the cd is not playing, I always hear at least one child humming or softly singing a favorite Happy Club song while going about the business of being in second grade. I strongly recommend "...the Happy Club" cd to any and all adults, too, especially those with children in their lives! Hurry and Join the Happy Club yourself - you'll be glad you did!" My kids LOVE it and I do too! K. Blaisdell | South Fork, PA | 05/28/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I purchased "Thank You for Joining the Happy Club" and it's the only cd my three kids (ages 10, 8 aqnd 6) want to listen to, and that's ok with me, I love it too! The lyrics keep me smiling and I hear my my kids singing their favorites throughout the day. It's hard to find great kids music that truly appeals to parents too, but this CD does. My husband and I listen to it without the kids in the car! We're so happy we joined the Happy Club! Buy it, you won't be disappointed." A kid's CD for adults, or an adult's CD for kids? Both! Gary Hardcastle | 05/28/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I have three kids, two of whom are about to leave home with a healthy dose of kids' music permanently installed into their brains (everything from Pete Seeger to the Austin Lounge Lizards to the Monkees) and a part of me (I won't say which part) wishes this CD had come out about ten years ago so that I could have played it on those long car trips. It's clever without being self-important, and fun without being forced. The first track (aptly titled "This is the First Song") is a great exercise in self-reference, and "I Can't Get Away From Myself" will make your five-year old smile and think at the same time. What's more, there's a cover of Talking Heads' "Don't Worry About the Government" that brings out the innocence of childhood and, believe it or not, of Talking Heads (if you thought all that late 70s stuff was cynical, you need to go listen now). Great production values to boot. Overall, a wonderful CD and a very useful reminder that there are thoughtful people still making great music for us all, kids included. I'm not yet able or willing to think about grandkids, but someday down the road I look forward to laying this on them. And then playing it for them as well."
