"I cannot believe nobody else has reviewed this CD! Pity. Billy Joel at his highly eccentric best. Last days of the Reagan Adminstration with a GHWB Bush Administration waiting in the wings.
"The Downeaster 'Alexa';" "Storm Front" have to do with the "Sea." "We Didn't Start The Fire" was the rage of schule teachers in classrooms at the time?!? Anyway it plays these days as a great historical word association song. It may have been Kitschy then, but listen to it now.
There are the usual Billy Joel borderline songs that in one mood sound good; Yet in another sound like like they are essentially weak. But as Paul Simon once opined: "One mans floor is another mans ceiling."
Seriously this CD/album reminds me more of THE NYLON CURTAIN. But if you are a Billy Joel fan you should not pass this album up. Especially for what it is going for new as of 1/16/2009. Get it. You will not be disappointed.
When I bought this in 1989 and Eric Clapton's JOURNEYMAN I really thought both albums were somehow inferior to the albums before. Actually both CDs/albums have aged well.
I dumped this not long after I bought it; But I consigned a copy to cassette tape. A tape that I would play alot. Missed it in on sale in Foodtown. But Amazon finally let me buy it for to quote PG: "less than extortionate prices."
As such I am glad I rebought it in its remastered glory. It shines.

"This is the only Billy Joel album I own. I could never get into any of his other stuff. This album came out when I was in middle school, and I heard 'We didn't start the fire', and 'I go to extremes' on the radio and was hooked. I bought the album and loved all the songs! I bought this copy to replace my old copy. This album is still great to this day! The songs are very upbeat and rock! ***Highly recommended***"
