A History of Bill Wharton's Liquid Summer Hot Sauces 5. A gumbo video 6. A link to the sauceboss.com website for current recipes, concert listings, photos, sound clips, and MP3 giveaways Bill Wharton is the Sauce Boss, a Florida blues man, who makes his own hot sauce, and feeds his audiences gumbo. Since 1990, the Sauce Boss has delighted the crowds with his high-energy "dinner" music. No schmaltz here, but instead, it's a git-down, soul-shouting picnic of rock-n-roll brotherhood. After a few thousand gigs, The Ingredients (his band) have found the groove. After serving 60,000 bowls of his signature gumbo, the Sauce Boss has become a phenomenon, playing/cooking from Paris to New York, Key West to Canada, California and back home again. After four albums on the Kingsnake label, Bill Wharton releases Recipes, an enhanced CD on his own label, Burning Disk. Recipes: it's cyberblues. An interactive root crop. Music and food. You can play it on your stereo, or load it into your computer and print out recipes for tonight's dinner. And the music Nobody plays like Bill Wharton. Rhythmic, swampy, self-styled slide guitar blues from Florida, a true original. Kenny Neal adds some Louisiana harp to the recipe for a couple of tunes. Producer Bob Greenlee (Mr. Kingsnake) lays down bass on two songs as well. And, of course, the Ingredients, with John Babich on keyboards, and Magic John Jones on bass, are always ready, willing, and able, to sear the juice into the blues. All in all, Bill Wharton and the Ingredients deliver a heaping platter in Recipes.

CD Reviews
High on the hog with RECIPES-cookin' the blues! 06/03/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Bill Wharton and the Ingredients bring the power of their live shows to this disc. Already a concert stand out "She's a Monkey" follows in the tradition of Wharton's fine originals which stand up to anything else in the contemporary blues artist genre. One can feel the truth when Wharton plays slide guitar as only a handful of North Floridians could. John "JB" Babich does things on a Hammond Organ that could melt a Leslie, and Magic John on bass-well let's just say that he is aptly named."Your Maytag Done Broke Down" is good fun,and could have been a 1954 recording on a number of independent Chiacgo labels but it is not. This is 1999 Florida Panhandle Blues at its best. Bill and his great band "The Ingredients" have toured France, Ireland, the USA and have Canada looming in the future. These songs are road tested, tight, and packed with glory and might. Not to be trapped in traditional blues check out "Big Bang Theory" THIS DISC IS HOT-just like Liquid Summer, but that is another story on this fine five star multi media disc-a Burning Disc in fact-Wharton's own- RECIPES a 5 star musical gumbo of blues and more. This only scratches the surface of what this release holds-the music-so get out the cd players or the computers and either way you are bound to enjoy RECIPES." Feed Me - Daddy-O! vicki | Key West, FL USA | 07/21/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Bill Wharton's been feeding ALL the senses for a long time, and Recipes has it all. There's Love in this here pot, for sure. Wharton and The Ingredients are certainly musically accomplished enough to succeed mightily without a "gimmick" of any sort, but sitting down to a meal with friends after a wild night of Bill Wharton's musical frenzy is akin to a celebration with one big extended, if perhaps dysfunctional, family. Recipes is a must-have CD for every blues/food enthusiast! Bring on the Big Sausage!"
