"This reissue is a minor miracle! The original was the only official release of then-new material Bill made for the Portrait/CBS label--but it never survived long enough to make it to CD. I got my first CD player in 1986, and this would have been one of my first CDs--If it had only existed! This first-time-on CD edition presents Bill's album and EP/Single as CBS Records originally released them in the UK in 1986. The original US edition was somewhat different, but ALL the music is here. People who have the US LP will be able to tell where the differences are, and where the unreleased material is. I'm glad to know that I don't have to keep my old vinyl copy in a vault anymore."

"I've followed Bill Nelson's career since the demise of Be Bop Deluxe in 1978.
Ironic, that I would tune in to the band, just as they released their swan-song, "Drastic Plastic". But that album made me hungry for all things Nelson. In the following years, he released a huge number of solo offerings. Each exploring a wide variety of musical styles.
In 1986, "On A Blue Wing" was released in the US. I didn't know it at the time, but "considerations of religious sensitivity" necessitated (at least in the record company's opinion) the changing of the original album title: "Getting The Holy Ghost Across". Oh, those tender American sensitivities...
The album is a creative high-point for Mr. Nelson. Elements of the Far East & the Indian Subcontinent are in evidence here, astounding guitar performances, deep musical arrangements, and some really hot hooks. From the opening cut to the final track, all are keepers.
Bill went through & reworked the track listing to better follow the original UK release. He has also added some extra cuts, which came from the same period. Most of those had been released on singles.
Explore the world of Bill Nelson. "Getting The Holy Ghost Across" is sure to make you a fan."

"I came to Bill Nelson by way of his collaboration on David Sylvian's Gone to Earth album. He is a GREAT musician. But after getting further into his music, I later realized that he also produced Gary Newman's album Warriors, which I had heard before David Sylvian. Bill Nelson has collaborated with many artist, but the work here is more defining of his own sound. give it a listen..."
