Two brief but wonderful concepts

"Nelson takes the occasional commission to do soundtracks & scores for other peoples' projects. The two collected on this CD were released in various forms over the years. For instance, I have the LP "The Love That Whilrs," which includes the 'bonus' EP "La Belle". At root, this is a musical accompaniment for Jean Cocteau's 1946 film version of "Beauty & the Beast."Likewise, "Das Kabinett" is accompaniment for the silent film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari."While I quite enjoy Nelson's electronic forays, it is albums such as this that makes me wish he would over the years have taken on more use of actual live orchestra; his few forays in that direction (anyone else ever heard "Darkness" on Axe Victim?) have been remarkable.Unless a cache of this CD should suddenly appear, it's likely to remain one of the rarest CDs in the Nelson corpus."
