Album DescriptionBill Easley's second 18th & Vine release is a self-described "homage to the saxophone voices that preceded my own." Hearing Voices shows that his own voice is ever evolving and always progressive. * Easley is a renowned session player who has worked with Isaac Hayes and done sessions at Stax. He has performed with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Benny Carter, George Benson, Jimmy Smith, Ruth Brown, Bill Mobley, Victor Gaskin, Mulgrew Miller, Ron Carter, and Grady Tate, among others.
* Bassist Hassan Shakurr JJ Wiggins is the son of the late, great pianist Gerald Wiggins. He can swing a sick man into good health. He has worked with the Duke Ellington Orchestra since 1974. * Pianist Danny Mixon has performed with Jack McDuff and Larry Young. He played with saxophonists Yusef Lateef, Jackie McLean, Pharaoh Saunders, and Gary Bartz; and with singers Betty Carter and Vanessa Rubin.
* Drummer Greg Bandy was discovered by Charles Mingus at age 20. He has played with many prominent jazz artists over the last 30+ years, securing his status as a living legend. "Filled with the soul and humanity that is missing in a lot of today's music. It proves once again that good jazz can lift you up, without the music being watered down. It's very good music, played in an unaffected manner, by very good musicians and it will make you feel very good when it's done. In spite of what some would have you to think, there's absolutely no crime in that." -- Jazz Improv "Whether the genre is blues, rhythm & blues, or hard bop, Bill Easley remains a versatile and often silent practician of musical mastery ... Easley has certainly perfected his craft." -- All About Jazz "Although he has spent much of his career in the background, uplifting other singers and musicians' sessions in addition to working in the studios, Bill Easley shows on this set that he is fully capable of being the leader." -- All Music Guide
