"These are basically reissues of recordings that are already available. The early recordings from the 1930s are most interesting since they show a light pure voice of remarkable range and facility. At that time Sayao was a master of the coloratura roles including Lucia and Zerbinetta in an Italian translation. However, the the 1930 recordings on this CD are from light Brazilian works which display the incredible voice,range, technique and style before she shifted to the more lyrical roles that she sang at the Met. What a tragedy that we do not have Sayao complete in all her great roles including La Serva Padrona which she sang with Baccaloni at the Met. Be thankful for whatever you can get."
