"Beth writes with the wealth of experience and knowledge of a travelling bard. The music echoes memories of times long ago, be it French or Irish, and can truly transcend the mind. The haunting melodies of "The Lass of Aughrim" and "Je M'endors" make the heart ache and the energy and enthusiam of "Ye Jacobites by Name" and "Heather on the Moor" make this a dynamic and spirited album from beginning to end. The amount of original tracks on the album clearly indicates the immense creativity of this multi-talented woman and the production surpasses most of today's top artists, being evident in tracks such as "Mardi Gras" and "An Dro\Catch My Hat", where you can feel the warmth and substance of the music and hear every instrument played. The energy of Beth's live performances is captured in this ecclectic array of tunes, as well as her personal experiences, which are reflected in the wistful "Steer by the Stars". The lilting "Reels: A Crack in the Doorway\Hell to Pay\Dip in the Road" is reminiscent of old Irish pub reels and makes a worthy competitor for Irish musicians of old. Each tune has been infused with a trait from Beth's personality, making each one a very personal story to which many a person can relate. All in all, an excellent album from an extremely talented songstress and my very favourite in my collection of folk music."Ceolann siad ar laetha geal, a bhí"And she truly does..... Tricia"

"Beth's newest musical release is breath-taking. She weaves between styles with grace and mastery, and displays a maturity far beyond her years. Her bouzuki playing is frightening in it's intensity, her voice seduces, and her arrangements are an aural assault of emotion and passion, tempered by precision. She brings life, Fury, wit, and shownmanship to her performance, without sacrificing quality. Pay close attention to her killer bass lines, reminiscent of the works of Geddy Lee, Leland Sklar, and Jaco. Stylistically, Beth is one of the most versitile musicians I have ever heard, especially considering the parameters of the bouzuki. She mercilessly shatters the stereotypes imposed by convention. Her rendition of "You Jacobites" fires up the adrenaline and keeps you wanting more. There is also a new version of "Steer by the Stars", which she previously recorded with The Poor Clares, to which she has added a bridge in 5/4 time, and a revised opening for the song. Wheels within wheels..."

"Beth Patterson is one of the most talented Irish folk musicians the world has seen. She's not limited to Irish, though--there are cajun and jazz influences throughout the CD. It's well engineered, well mixed, and generally well-put together. _Hybrid Vigor_ is a wonderful mix of traditional and original tunes. Includes Beth's original "Steer by the Stars" as well as a lovely version of "Heather on the Moor." Stupendously wonderful. You'll leave it in your CD changer for years."
