Do you know Pohjola's Daughter?

"Sibelius was really a genius, and this is some of his best and most popular music, except for the seldom-heard "Pohjola's Daughter". Over time, that has come to be one of my favorite pieces. I hope that excellent recordings like this one will bring this small tone poem by Sibelius into more record collections! If you've ever heard a good recording of "The Tempest" by Tchaikovsky, "Pohjola's Daughter" holds a similar place in the output of Sibelius.
Bernstein also recorded Pohjola's Daughter; this recording plays it slow and Bernstein's recording plays it much faster. I enjoy hearing it both ways, so I recommend the Bernstein recording also...it comes with Sibelius' Fifth Symphony in a beautiful performance with the strings of the New York Philharmonic playing the hell out of this noble and Romantic music.
I know you don't need another recording of "Finlandia", but buy this CD anyway!"
