"AS A FAN of BILLY CONNOLY from his comedy years I was curious to see what he did musically. His distinctive voice and folk appeal are well presented here. HUMBLEBUMS is mostly he and GERRY RAFFERTY [more noted for his STEALERS WHEEL period and his solo albums in the 70s. There are NO LINER NOTES on this collection which is its one short-coming. Almost all the songs are written by GERRY AND BILLY and are a delightful mix of folk, jugband, and a touch of tin pan alley. It is unlikely that much of this showed up on the radio at the time but its good fun folky material with minimal percussion[drums] and lots of good humor, as you would expect of CONNOLLY. GOOD BARGAIN also...with 39 tracks on 2 cds.The sound quality is excellent. If you are a McCartney fan some of these songs sound like him. RECOMMENDED for folk folk...britman 46"
