Dvorak's Carnival Overture

"I've listened to a number of performances of Dvorak's Carnival Overture through the years, including the performances by George Szell and the Cleveland Orchestra, Istvan Kertesz and the London Symphony, and Rafael Kubelik's version on the DGG label. However, none match the excitement that Bernstein's interpretation summons. A very robust, driving tempo is maintained through the tutti parts, resulting in a very tight and energizing performance reminiscent of some of the past Arturo Toscanini interpretations of orchestral works. Despite the age of the performance, the sound quality is quite good, although it may fall a little short if you are used to digital recordings."
