Synopsis

Album Description
"Emily Songs" is happy, bouncy, bluegrassy music for kids and their parents. Winner of a Parent's Choice award, a Dr. Toy Best Vacation Product Award and a John Lennon Songwriting Award, "Emily Songs" features Jeff Bird of the Cowboy Junkies, and blends great, upbeat music with healthy doses of silliness and messages that ring true for kids and parents alike. Conceived while creating music for a kid's birthday party, the tunes are fun and engaging for children of all ages. "I Like Silver, I Like Gold" blends children's love of colors with rhymes and an infectious rhythm. Children and parents alike will relate to "I Need a Hand," a song that has some serious fun with what it means to cross the street and to just get through the day. Mixed with the originals are classics such as "Skip to My Lou", done as you've never heard them before: kids will be unable to resist singing along. A couple of good old-fashioned fiddle tunes round it all out; if they don't get you dancing, nothing will!

CD Reviews

Give Raffi a Rest
David Wright | Arlington, MA USA | 04/03/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"My daughter liked Raffi and the other classics when we put them on, but she never asked for them. This is one she asks for--a lot. It's lively and fun, and treats kids like sophisticated listeners who can enjoy layers of sounds and catchy rhythms, just like adults--which is why I think it appeals to all ages. This is a CD that stays on the carousel at our house."
A lot of fun even for grownups

"Rudnick's songs are geared towards children, but that doesn't tell the whole story. It is simply impossible to be in a bad mood listening to this music, and I'm pretty much fully grown up. The instrumental renditions of traditional songs are particularly catchy, and "The Window", "I Need a Hand", and "Cowgirl Song" had me singing along and making up my own verses. Highly recommended."
