Another great Italian composer: When Vincenzo Bellini started in march 1829 with the composition of his opera Zaira , he was already a famous man. After Rossini no composer of operas of the 19th century started his career that brilliantly. However Zaira found no mercy before the public... but this because of political reasons. Bellini knew, that Zaira had a bad start ... and instead of re-writing the opera, he preferred using it as treasure chest for the composition of his following operas.
