"A previous reviewer from Geneva writes the following about JVC's XRCD reissues: "I can assure [you] (by instant comparison turning the selector control of the amp) that in several cases -when a Living Stereo is a contender for instance- that there's no difference AT ALL in sound!!" In fact, the only thing he can assure us of is that *he hears* no difference in sound quality. I have had opportunity to compare an XRCD with an RCA Living Stereo CD, and I do hear a significant difference, sufficient to justify spending twice the money for a reissue of favorite music."
Less than usual XRCD sound quality

"A good performance, but the sound quality is not what other XRCDs are. there is some audible hiss and not as much dynamic impact as one would hope. It seems that the ultimate version of the 7th is not yet available. The much vaunted Colin Davis performance with the RPO is nowhere available in this country. Let's hope that soon someone will put out the definitive version of this, the most underrated of the Beethoven Symphony output, soon. Meanwhile this will have to do, or you might want to listen to the Klieber version."
