"I have listened to (many times) and own the complete Talich Set of Beethoven Quartets. It's an overall excellent package from both playing and recording stand points. If you are looking for razor sharp recording and pin point precise playing, this is not it. But if you are longing for the old time tube like analog sound and want to know that Beethoven is also a human that he actually has emotions, do give this set a try. This is by no means the only set of Beethoven complete quartets you should collect. But it definitely should be one of the sets you want to have if you plan to collect more than 1 recordings for these masterpieces."

"This refers to the entire Talich Beethoven set (see below)The Talich reordings are memorable - music making from another age almost. These are entirely relaxed and winning performances, with none of the surface gloss that characterizes, for example, the jet-setting Emersons; and yet, the ensemble is impeccable, the playing is warm and heartfelt...A set, like the Vegh, to treasure and return to again and again. The recording is not outstanding, a small blemish that seems trivial in the context of such special music making.(The Talich have recorded the complete Beethoven quartets on Calliope, a French label. I do believe that this can be ordered online at www.amazon.fr and is available at some other US stores.)"
