Pianist Shani Diluka was born in Monaco of Sri Lankan parents. She was among those to benefit from a program initiated by Princess Grace of Monaco that allowed talented children to receive special music lessons integrated into their normal schooling. Diluka has been giving concerts since an early age, appearing on the concert platform with the pianist Hélène Grimaud at the age of 12 and playing her first orchestral concert with L Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo at the age of 16. This new disc of Beethoven concertos features Diluka on a Bechstein piano, performing cadenzas by the great Wilhelm Kempff.
