CD Reviews

Yikes!

"This album deserves a better review than the one previously posted. Just so we all understand what the music on this album is; this is CAJUN music! The album is an early Beausoleil masterpiece recorded in Paris in 1976. It has sparkling versions of Cajun standards like "Jeune Filles de la Campagne" and "La Valse de Grand Chemin". My favorite cut is "Arc de Triomphe Two Step". It seems so..so..happy (for lack of a better word). I will have to say that I have heard versions of "Travailler C'est Trop Dur" that I like better than the one here but, hey, if that's the only complaint, why quibble. A warning for those archivists types like myself, there's not much in the way of liner notes. You get a list of the musicians and a bit of background on them, a list of the songs, and a list of the technical people. That's it really. If you are even looking at this page, if you have found this album while searching for Beausoleil, Michael Doucet, or Cajun music, go on and order it. You won't be disappointed. If you don't like French music or folk or country music like the reviewer below, maybe you should steer clear. "
