"From the moment I heard Zydeco Giant and Beau Jocque coming from the Zydeco Record Shop on Decater Street in New Orleans I could'nt stop my feet. Zydeco Giant with its haunting blues and hard driving accordion riffs is truly the best Beau Jocque to date. Jocque and his Zydeco Hi-Rollers prove why they deserve to be more than just South Louisiana's premier Zydeco dance band...Beau and the boys truly deserve a universal listen and a global audience with this latest release. Beau Jocque's raw energy and driving dance beat on Zydeco Giant make this a dance hall masterpiece for the new millenium. Favorite cuts include: "I'm So Tired Of You Doing Me Wrong," "The Second Line," and "Rock Me Baby." If you pick up Zydeco Giant, it will be the first of many Beau Jocque recordings you will want to purchase. This brave and determined former electrician has clearly electrified Zydeco music and is capable of bringing it to a mass audience. With Zydeco Giant by Beau Jocque and The Zydeco Hi-Rollers you'll experience the sound of New Orleans and one of Louisiana's great national treasures. It's time the world discovered this giant named Beau Jocque!"

"This was a great cd because it brings back a lot of memories. I am from the Pine Point community (Mamou,La) so it really hit home. Andrus (Beau Jocque) was my second cousin and his passing just broke my heart. Actually all of his music that he's ever recorded has been "off the hook". As a matter of fact since I've been away from home I listen to his music all of the time. It just makes me feel at home even though I'm not at home. Thanks Andrus for making me and all of your fans learn to appreciate good music again. You will be sadly missed. Much love,Melissa"

His Finest Recording

"Sad to say, this delightful creole blend of zydeco, blues, rock, jazz, cajun, and soul was the last recording by a true zydeco giant, a large man with a large heart that unfortunately stopped beating not long after this recording was made. What makes the story more sad is that this recording may well have been his finest. Whereas his previous release (Check It Out, Lock It In, Crank It Up!) found Beau and his band in something of a rut--although a highly energetic and danceable rut it was--Zydeco Giant showcases a variety of musical styles and finds the Hi-Rollers in fine form as they provide a solid musical foundation for Beau's voice and accordion. With several new members, the band was really hitting its stride, and Beau Jocque sounded more self-assured in what turned out to be his final recording sessions, not trying so hard to impress and sounding all the more impressive as a result. Highly recommended to all zydeco fans; and if you aren't a zydeco fan, one listen to this recording might just make you one."
