"This is one of the great psych reissues. For all the stories about how zany things were in the late 60's, much of the available music of the day seems relatively tame by modern standards. You really have to dig deep into bootlegs (the early Velvet Underground free form jams) or limited run records that didn't scratch the mainstream (the ESP disk catalog for starters).
This record is basically 2 side long jams that absolutely deliver that zoned out vibe as good as anything by Amon Duul, Agitation Free, or Harvester/Parson Sound... Pulsating organs, reverbed guitars, flutes, bongos and miscellaneous percussion swirl in a California-bred raga. The shifting tempos and instrumentation keep things just this side of disorientation, and the noodling never degenerates into Iron Butterfly excess or hippy dippy silliness. For those whom this makes any sense, this disc is necessary.
For those who want more, there is a limited issue of the Electronic Hole, a similarly minded transitional project before the team leader led the more subdued, Relatively Clean Rivers."
