Synopsis
Album Description Confirmation for many that summer has truly arrived, 'Beach House 04.04' is here. So, crack open the sunscreen & get ready for some serious rays of soulful sunshine. This is the often-imitated 'summer house' series in the Hed Kandi range. Beach House has been so well received that even in its sixth incarnation, it still manages to retain eminence as the soundtrack to a sun-kissed summer. 24 tracks, on two CDs, from such artists as Stone Bridge, Hird feat. Yukumi, Nars feat. Emma, Late Night Alumni, Treena Rose, Miguel Migs feat. Li'sha, Kaskade, & more. Similar CDs |
CD ReviewsAn excellent Beach House set Cardigans8 | Los Angeles, CA United States | 08/19/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is definitely becoming one of my favorite Hed Kandi purchases and at least matches or even beats the great 04.02 volume of Beach House. Overall, the sounds are more deep, more fresh, and more electro than Beach House usually sounds. Some of the songs are also dancier and livelier, while others fulfill the promise of sundrenched summer listening. As a whole, the album is great and has zero subpar material. Standouts include Can't Get Enough, I Love You My Hope, Aurora, Ever After, I'll Rise, and Happy. And these songs are more than worth the purchase price alone. So, if you are just getting into Hed Kandi, this would be a great place to start since it is a perfect example of Beach House and very modern in its selections. If you are already into the label and Beach House, definitely pick this up because it really lives up to the standard of Hed Kandi's excellent compilations." Misstep Jake Z | Canada | 05/23/2005 (3 out of 5 stars) "The latest addition to the BEACH HOUSE series is one of the weaker entries. BEACH HOUSE is a compilation filled with house grooves with a latin feel to them. For some reason this one just doesn't add up. The good tracks though, are awesome. These include StoneBridge "Can't Get Enough", Miguel Migs "Do It For You", Kaskade "Safe", Nars feat Emma "I Wanna Know", Late Night Alumni "The Rest of me", Afterlife "Breather", Bonnie Bailey "Ever After", Peyton "I'll Rise" and Moony "This Is Your Life". There's other good moments but ultimately the collection is a little flat." "Beach House 04.04" Stays the Course. The Groove | Boston, MA | 08/10/2004 (3 out of 5 stars) "2004's "Beach House" offers more of what we expect from this Hed Kandi series: summery, often percussion heavy house. The best of these 24 unmixed tracks can be found on disc one, with delectable selections like Kaskade's "Safe," Nars & Emma's "I Wanna Know," and "Tell Me All About It" by Treena Rose. Miguel Migs, a DJ whose style of house fits perfectly into this compilation, is represented on "Do It For You." But disc 2 is where the magic nearly unravels. While a handful of the cuts on this disc may warrant a replay, it ultimately loses both a bit of steam and focus. It kicks off promisingly with Eric Kupper's sensual "Auora" and Peyton's "I Rise," one of the few house tracks on this set with a male vocal. But some other selections don't work, such as a flat cover of 808 State's "Pacific" and Max Sedgeley's "Happy," which isn't even house. Warts and all, though, "Beach House 04.04" is far from a misfire. The first disc is a winner, while the second disc is split between interesting jams and filler cuts."
