Black Metal from Malaysia. Too monotonous for me

"Bazzah are an exotic rarity, a Black Metal band from the Islamic Southeast Asian nation of Malaysia. Being a huge fan of the rawer, more primitive side of Black Metal like Beherit, Cult of Daath and Demoncy, when I heard that Bazzah's music was supposed to be in a similar vein I decided to take a chance and check them out.



But unfortunately I was disappointed with what I heard. Yes, they are in the primitivist school of Black Metal like Beherit, but nowhere as good. And worst of all, I found their music extremely lacking in variety. Each song on here sounds so similar to the others I literally could not tell one song from the next!



Displeased Records have been very generous and as an added bonus have included all 8 tracks from Bazzah's impossible to find debut EP which was only produced in limited numbers. But while the music from the EP does sound slightly different from the album tracks, again I find all of the EP tracks sound EXACTLY like one another.



I really wanted to like this album. And I really wish I could show more encouragement to these guys and what they're doing, living as they are in an oppressive conservative religious state which chooses to persecute and arrest its Black Metal bands and fans. But all I can say is I hope they try to bring more variety and originality to their music in the future.
