Vinculum Symphony Live is the third release on BC Records. A composition for chamber orchestra and experimental instrument builders, it features some of the Bay Area's finest instrumentalists playing with the of the West Coast's most inventive experimental instrument builders, sculptor/musicians build and improvise on their own creations in the tradtion of Harry Partch. Vinculum Symphony premiered in September of '99 to sold out capacity crowds at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. It was an historic event that brought together inventors Trimpin, Oliver DiCicco, Chico MacMurtrie, Darrell DeVore, Susan Rawcliffe, Bart Hopkin, Brenda Hutchinson, Krys Bobroski, Peter Whitehead, and Tom Nunn with the virtuosic Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, and prominent members of the Bay Area's rich improvising community including Jon Birdsong (Beck), Chris Grady (Club Foot Orchestra), DJ Christian Jones (Eighty Mile Beach) and Tina Zenon (Sacred Heart Choir). The event was recorded and this recording is culled from the best of four nights and features a variety of written styles and improvising.
