"After Mary's Danish got screwed by the record biz, Battery Acid was formed by three of their members. Gretchen Seager, Louis Gutierrez and Chris "Wag" Wagner make up the band with drummer Dave Harte. Matthew Colleran the 2nd guitar player doesn't make it on to the CD.
The CD picks up where Mary's Danish left with American Standard. Although here we find them with a more stripped down grunchier sound. Louis's guitar playing is great along with Wag on bass. But, what makes this CD come alive is Gretchen's vocals. All the songs stand out. Full Circle, The Break, and Make It Right sound like old Mary's Danish. The only thing missing is Julie Ritter. The acoustic Perfect Day is another great one.
Too bad this is all you will hear from this band. While the record Co. they were suppose to be with was out signing crap they where dropped after their A&R person was fired. It was finally released on Absinthe records. This is a great CD to have if you loved Mary's Danish back in the day.Song Listing:

Better than Mary's D.

"I was a huge fan of Mary's D. and this is what their sound would have been if they took a few layers off. Straight chunky rock with thought and feelings in the lyrics. Gretchen's unmistakable voice was perfect for this short lived outfit. It goes without saying they were great live."
