"This instrumental music is sophisticated yet accesible and melodic. The compositions are in the best tradition of theme statement, development and re-statement with plently of rhythmic drive. Each of the four players has a great mastery of his instrument as well as the ability to support and enhance the group dynamic. The music is energetic fun and intelligent. The CD is also recorded very well and makes your stereo system sound great. This band deserves to be well known. If you enjoy, Yes, The Hellecasters, Gentle Giant,or Oregon you may well enjoy this music; although it does not exactly sound like any of these bands. What they all have in common is a musicality and interest in melody, composition and rhythmic drive that makes the music rock in an uplifting and inspiring manner."

"This band's compositionally inspired instrumental music is original and great. It perfectly showcases each of the musician's technical abilities. There are too many influences and styles to the music to list here. Suffice it to say, that while you might recognize these influences, you're left with an overall musical experience that works, and leaves you wanting more.I had an opportunity to see the band live in performance and was extremely impressed! I'm looking forward to hearing more music from these guys. If they don't become a household name, it would be a shame. If you get a chance to see the band live, don't hesitate. If not, pick up some of their available music on CD. You certainly won't be disappointed!"

"This outstanding CD features distinctive instrumental songs showcasing fine guitar work, strong and interesting bass lines and compositions that blends in musically beautifull and engaging ways. All of this defines the BTG Barton Tyler Group CD "Like A Metaphor". The music is dynamic and fluid, influenced by folk traditions, rock, and the blues. This music defies catagory, except one: that being examplary.The music travels and returns to the theme, much like jazz, yet this isn't jazz. The influences are diverse, and that is what makes this music so rich. The instrumental songs are upbeat and emotionally charged with feeling. Very listenable, very likable; a wonderful gift to give or receive."
