"Barry (Tashian) & The Remains' incendiary live set and definitive mid-60s recordings of "Don't Look Back" and "Diddy Wah Diddy" earned them the opening slot on the Beatles final tour. Shortly after this peak the band dissolved and Tashian moved to a career in country and folk music, co-founding an embryonic Flying Burrito Brothers, and spending a decade with Emmylou Harris' Hot Band.More recently Tashian has written and recorded with his singer-songwriter wife, Holly. This fifth duet album combines the high-lonesome harmonies of Bill Monroe, the western swing of Bob Wills, the pedal-steel and fiddle of traditional country, and the intimate familial closeness of the Everly Brothers.The Tashian's joy for singing makes even the blue lament, "Hello Sorrow, Hello Pain," feel upbeat. The cautious "Two Ways To Fall" and the redemptive "The Love You Give" share the Tashian's harmony, both musical and marital. A terrific album for sing-a-longs."
