Product DescriptionInspired by jazz greats Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker, Barry Harris began studying piano at the age of four. A Detroit native, Harris worked frequently with the likes of Miles Davis, Sonny Stitt and Max Roach. By the late 1950s, his reputation as a performer and teacher of bebop style had visiting artists from around the world seeking him out for his musical insights and prodigious skills at the keyboard. In 1960, Harris joined Cannonball Adderley s quintet and soon afterward moved to New York, where he performed and recorded with such musicians as Dexter Gordon, Yusef Lateef and Hank Mobley. Recorded in November 2009 during the Jazz à l Ouest festival in Rennes, France, this new live album features Harris - accompanied on this occasion by Mathias Allamane (acoustic bass) and Philippe Soirat (drums) - in a grand and beautiful lesson in the world of 20th century classical music, i.e., jazz. The CD is packaged with a complete Plus Loin label catalog.
