Wonderful solo performance from a master

"Anyone who has had the pleasure of listening to Barry Harris live, or fortunate enough to catch him on Marian McPartland's "Piano Jazz" radio series will know how much depth, knowledge, chops, and joy he brings to the music world. The Maybeck concert catches Harris in a similarly comfortable setting. His touch on ballads, his bop treatments on the tempos, evoke Bud Powell---but Harris is his own man. Only Harris could take "Meet the Flintstones" and "I Love Lucy" and transform them into lush romantic ballads."
