"Barney Wilen was not somebody who gre inbto being a great Tenor player he was born with it.At 17 he was playing with Miles and everybody else who came through Paris. Can't say every release haof his has been great but all have been good.Son of a Dentist-Inventor who marries a French Woman Barney was just phenomenal at an early age (if you can find it get his Swing CD "Tilt" on CD-Mostly Monk and beyond description how good it is.Fr and original LP in good condition be prepared to lay out 4750 or a grand))Here he has aces Ira Coleman on Bass,Billy Drummond and Skins and Luarent De Wilde on Key.De Wilde is a great accopiniast though some of his own realses have been off the reserveation and to "op" oriented but here (and one a nice Eddie Henderson I have) he get's job done without knocking everybody out of the box like some young players do when they have to "prove" themsleves.A fine effort with these great tunes:
1. Birk's Works
2. Spring I Here
3. My Funny Valentine
4. I Loves You Porgy
5. Daahood
6. Prelude No. 3 In A Minor
7. Blue In Green
8. Tin Tin Deo
9. My Man's Gone Now
10. No Greater Love
11. Talisman
BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
