Synopsis

Album Description
One of the most original voices of the 1960s, Barbara Lynn has proved to be an enduring, deeply-felt and modern voice of Southern soul brought to new audiences by the Rolling Stones cover of her song Ooh Baby (We Got a Good Thing Going), Moby's sample of her work and her large international following. This 2-CD set puts her breakthrough single, You'll Lose a Good Thing in the context of 15 singles and an album she recorded from 1962 to 1965 and includes such classic chart records as It's Better to Have It, Don't Spread It Around and You're Gonna Need Me. Extensive liner notes and historic photos round out this long-awaited set. She'll be touring this summer!

CD Reviews

Lost gems - good remastering but........
Luigi Facotti | Chicago Il | 08/05/2008

"Everything Barbara Lynn did for Jamie back in the 60s - excellent remastering but the contents of these two CDs - 37 and 38 mins would fit on ONE CD!!

The Jamie archives reissue program is fast developing a reputation for being a rip-off value wise - $26 for the contents of one CD?"
Great career-label overview for a great artist

"Thanks, Jamie, for bringing all of Barbara Lynn's singles together on one release. Besides the great sound on the remastering, the package includes an extensive interview with the artist who is still very impressive in live performance. It is refreshing and exhilarating to hear the music that she did starting at such a young age. Extras include an interview with the owner of the New Orleans studio where her great first singles were cut and the highest chart positions on both Cash Box and Billboard,. Nice to see what a caring label can do with their artists from the 60s.."
