"If you love folk, if you love new age, you absolutely cannot go wrong with this gorgeous and stunning album by Barbara Higbie. "I Surrender" displays a major, major talent in vocal gift, instrumental chops, and not in the least, poetry and tunesmithing. This album can literally lift you to another plane, but do not expect boring new age music; this is energized by the warmth of her personality and it is vibrant. A desert-island quality disc(overy) for me, perhaps you'll find a solid return on your investment here, too. Viva Barbara!"

"I saw Barbara in concert with other Windham Hill artists and have been a fan since. She has a very friendly, soft voice, and these original tunes match it perfectly. Some very mellow songs, some instrumentals, some upbeat. One of the instrumentals sounds very much like George Winston."
