Album DescriptionThe rushing pulse of the thunderous drumming of South India. The mellifluous voice of R.A. Ramamani, the clarinet bending and sliding into a foreign world of sound. This is a mixture of global virtuosity, celebrating wildness in music and wilderness in the world. File under: world music, global fusion, improvisation with a groove. The CD includes a sixteen-page booklet with a detailed essay on the unique story behind the recording, and how music can make a difference in the environmental crisis. The first three pieces are from the classical South Indian repertoire of the Karnataka College of Percussion. The second two present Rothenberg's own mixture of spoken word, electronics, ghatam rhythms and clarinet explorations. The final four pieces represent the heat of the musical melange, featuring a blend of rehearsal takes and live cuts from the standing-room only concert at the great hall of the Bangalore Hotel.
