"When the group Milladoiro issued its CD in 1991, it was an ear opener to discover Celtic Iberian music. In this CD, Ledicia, a Celtic band from Galicia, at the northwest corner of Spain near Asturias, is a 24-person mainly bagpipe ensemble. Although traditional, or old, Galician tunes are played, this group of men and women musicians also reaches to France and Ireland and Scotland as well as South America for some tracks. Piano, Cuban percussion, and classical strings are also heard, which makes the album somewhat inconsistent. Thus, we hear massed Spanish bagpipes and bass and snare drums with a Latin tinge and a Scottish brogue. If you are interested in Celtic bagpipe music, or just musical oddities and curios, then you may enjoy this unusual recording. [*** 1/2]"
