CD Reviews

Not what I bargained for. Songs don't sound right.

"I bought this album and was totally dissatisfied.

The songs sound like Eastern-bloc military disco versions of the sound samples on Amazon.com. They aren't the same."
Not enough old Bajofondo

"If you liked the original "Bajofondo Tango " than you might be dissapointed but then again you might like this club version. Personally, it is not my cup of tea really and has few saving graces. The songs are remixed so they are quite different, they are more upbeat, danceable grooves as opposed to the originals. You can hardly recall some to the originals. There are two versions of "Perfume"; the Surdo Jazz Mixx is all about the dance-groove-thang, whereas the Bouquet Remix holds more true to the the compositions format on the first disc. Personally I like the songs when I can still relate it to the original. There is a European edge to many of the tracks(possibly the ones recorded in Paris?) that makes the disc a little disjointed because many of the others are more downtempo. Since it was recorded in five different major International cities it tends to sound like something slapped together. "Pulso" is one of three songs remixed twice and sound nothing alike. The version by Alexkid is more downtempo-trippy-reggae infused than the Omar version which is more midtempo dance groove. One of the more interesting remixes is "Miles de Pasajeros" where the Androoval Remix lays a light Spanish hip-hop track through the track for a different effect. This disc is more of a disco type shake-your-booty CD than anything else so it is quite a departure from the original or what you think of as a remix. This is probably not for everyone since many of the tracks are super fast thump-thump tunes. It is at best a change of pace disc that has only a few songs worth repeating. You would be better off sticking with the original. More of the original music needed to be used to establish the original identity; this formula is mostly new material so if you don't recall the old stuff you are stuck in no-mans-land. If Gustavo Santaolalla had been involved in this production the result would have been a different story, too bad."
Disappointed about this album!

"I listened and loved just about most of the Bajofondo albums in the past. This Remixed album was totally disappointing to me. I think it's a waste of my money. None of the songs resemble the original. I am European and love the European sound but this is totally disgusting even to us! Sorry Bajofondo but next time maybe take more time to create a remix rather than hurry to put one up just because all your other albums were so popular! I will look forward to seeing more of your BEST even if I have to wait!"
