Zukerman has an excellent interpretation of Bach

"This recording is absolutely wonderful. My title pretty much says it all; Zukerman's interpretation truly reflects the passion of the music and his tone is absolutely magnificent. Many people have criticized him for 'romanticism'; however I believe that if Bach were brought back to life in this day and age, this is how he would have liked the concertos to be played. In his time, Bach had to contend with instruments that had extremely poor tone and which could just barely handle Bach's brilliant, highly innovative compositions. Now that we have such powerful instruments, I think we should take advantage of them and interpret Bach's music the way he would have wanted it, not the way it sounded when it was originally performed."
Desert Island CD

"You know the retorical question - if you could only take one album with you to a desert island, which would it be? For years, for me, it's been this one. Pinchas Zukerman uses all his formidable technique and expressiveness and yet the effect is that he's just sitting back and letting the music speak for itself. It's like being in Bach's head, hearing his perfect notion of the music. The slow movement of the double concerto is the most reverent, tender sound I've ever heard."
