Great music, very good performance, but bad recording

"Greatest music, very good performances, bad recording. Bach's concerti are sublime and this pairing of three violin concerti with four keyboard concerti and the Orchestral Suite No. 3 is without any question great music. The performances by the Maintz Chamber Orchestra and Wuerttemberg Chamber Orchestra are very nice. These are careful, cultured, loving, lively, artful interpretations of some of Bach's finest works.
Unfortunately the recording quality is very bad in places. Quiet portions are surprisingly good from this remaster of an old (undated) analog recording which I would place in the 1950s. But loud passages are almost uniformly distorted due to overload. Lead ins are unusually noisy, as if the tapes were poorly stored and suffered damage, probably oxide flaking (i.e. portions of the actual magnetic recording medium falling off the plastic tape carrier due to heat, age, mishandling, etc., resulting in a partial loss of signal).
Look elsewhere for these heavenly compositions. Vox should not have pressed these tapes."
