Album Description The vibraphonist Andrei Pushkarev, who was born in Kiev, has worked since 1999 with Gidon Kremer's Kremerata Baltica chamber orchestra and smaller ensembles within this sphere. In this production he introduces a group of improvisations to the 15 two-part inventions by Johann Sebastian Bach in which the styles of such famous jazz pianists as Erroll Garner, Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, George Shearing, and Scott Joplin are remembered. However, the essence of great polyphony is retained and this disc "by no means represents a crossover project," as producer Kremer emphasizes.
