"Neville Marriner has always done a great job as a Bach interpreter, and this is an exemplary CD for good samples of his satisfying and clean performances with the Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields. The second and third orchestral suites and double violin concerto are some of Bach's most beautiful, expressive music, done very well here. The recording quality is especially excellent for having been recorded in the 70's (with Henryk Szeryng as first solo violin in the concerto) and each solo section's sound is evenly distributed. (You can actually hear the continuo part!) I recommend this CD for any Bach fan searching for near-definitive performances of his orchestral music. If you buy it, I assure you that you'll be satisfied.
