Italian Concerto, Partitas no 1 & 2

"I've listened to these works on LP (ie, vinyl round disks you played with diamond needles!), 16-bit CD's, and now this SACD version. These sessions were recorded in 1959 and the sonics in SACD format are astounding. I can't say enough how much better Gould sounds in SACD. I will buy every Glenn Gould SACD they put out! I have the 2 & 3 Part Inventions on order and I can only hope it sounds as good as this disk... because the Inventions are probably my favorite bach keyboard work(s). Highly recommended."
Significant transfer problems with this SACD

"Without going into the musicality and joy of Gould's performance which to fans of his needs no introduction, I was particularly concerned with the DSD transfer of the master tapes. On several tracks, I picked up a very unpleasant sibilance/whistling similar to what one would hear if you put your ear close to a television set, and something I have not noticed on on any other SACD in my collection. If you have a high-end system, this will be a very unpleasant surprise and you might want to stick to the red-book release until Sony clears up the problem on this item."
