CD Reviews

GREAT DEMOS!!!
Michael Courtney | San Antonio, Texas United States | 04/24/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When I first purchsed this on album it was an import from NEMS in the UK. I had seen the Babys open for Alice Cooper and was mesmerized by their complete lack of flash and processed sound. They were simple, yes, but had a layered sound that was amazing and not over produced. These demos were supposedly recorded to help get them their recording contract with Chrysalis Records. The band is the same here, John Waite [vocals & bass], Wally Stocker [guitars], Mike Corby [guitar, vocals & keys], and Tony Brock [drums]. They also had a fifth member, whose name escapes me [Irving is in my head, so, I will add at home with the album in front of me], but he sang and played bass. He added a good vocal mix to John Waite and provided some excellent harmonies. If you like music that hasn't been overproduced, this may be a release for you. Half of the songs were eventually released on other albums, but the versions here are fresh and different. If you like the Babys or John waite this is a must have. If you like Power Pop and or the 70's & 80's you will probably like this, too. There is a lot of raw energy in this recording and I highly recommend it!"
Interesting for fans of John Waite and The Babys

"The quality is pretty good considering where and when this was recorded. It is a bit raw and many of the songs are either earlier versions of Babys songs (some have changed quite a bit) or unreleased songs. I enjoyed it, but I am a HUGE fan of The Babys and John Waite. It sounds similar to the first 2-3 Babys albums, but just a little bit more raw. A good find for fans of The Babys early stuff (like I am)."
Awesome..This is a very talented Band
