Classic funk for the real heads
devious20000001 | LONDON | 11/18/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)
"This LP is worth getting hold of for the cover alone- he looks so sad and on the back he's wearing some sort of dress standing in a library. Not long after making the album he died so maybe he knew it was his time or something, but there's definately emotion on here. And some banging breaks too, especially the classic Hard Times which Ghostface used on his last joint (Nutmeg's the track I think I think), but whatever it's a classic track every time.....in fact the LP is full of nice beats and pieces all given a soulfull funk edge by the Baby himself. Just get it and listen."
The breath of soul

"The warm breath of soul on the back of your neck is what you feel when you listen to this album. This is a voice that will ring in your heart forever. If your old enough to remember this sound, share the experience with your childen; if your progressive enough to have found this on the web, share your find with others."
Baby Huey & the Babysitters

""Want to hear the REAL Chicago Sound? Baby Huey was 400 pounds of soul. This record, produced by Curtis Mayfield on his Curtom Records, embodies that hard driving, rough-edged soul sound that was made to compete with Motown's slicker productions. Make no mistake, this band is TIGHT, and really grooves you into the mood!"
Mighty Mighty Children

"Along with Jimi,Janis And Buddy Miles , Baby Huey was spear heading the Seventies music revolution , it's a shame we did not get to experience the total depth of what was beyond the horizon."
The Baby Huey Story
G J Old | Chester United Kingdom | 02/13/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)
"Produced by Curtis Mayfield, this album provides smouldering ballads and hammond driven funk workouts. Baby Huey's excellent voice is showcased on his version of "A Change Is Gonna Come" which is right up there with Sam and Otis' crackers. The highlight is a viscious live cut of Mighty Mighty, the Curtis Mayfield classic, with a blistering horn section the backdrop to a monster funk jam. Huey's untimely death has lead to a limited range of tracks with a couple of versions of the same songs (hence the four star review) but don't let that put you off somebody who was sure to right up there with Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield,George Clinton and The Ohio Players as one of soul-funks phattest funkers."
