"ACTION FILMS, the fourth disc in the BCI Music series THE MUSIC OF THE SILVER SCREEN, is NOT a cheapie recording! It is an excellent recording by the BBC Orchestra, a formidable ensemble. Absolutely first-rate performances and beautiful, very "live" recorded sound. I have all four of the discs in the series and could not be happier with them. The others are:
1 - ADVENTURE FILMS (James Bond, Lawrence of Arabia, The Great Escape, The Sea Hawk, etc.)
2 - LOVE STORIES (Casablanca, Moulin Rouge, Limelight, Out of Africa, etc.)
3 - THE MUSICALS (Annie Get Your Gun, Funny Girl, The Music Man, Gigi, etc.)
I found these all in cut-out bins back in 1998-99 and got them one at a time, not fully trusting that they were in fact as good as they seemed. They ARE that good. They have also been released under a different series title (GOLDEN CINEMA CLASSICS) and with slightly different individual titles. This one's alternate title is EPIC FILM. The others become ADVENTURE FILM, LOVE STORY and THE HOLLYWOOD MUSICAL. A few of these alternate discs have extra tracks. EPIC FILM is one of them; it includes a selection from Arthur Bliss's great 1936 score to THINGS TO COME."
