CD Reviews

Do yourself a favor...See these guys live...

"Just saw these guys for the second time. They put on the best show I have ever seen. Their shows are so alive..and there songs are so original and well written. All three of them are the nicest guys you will ever meet, and their music surpasses everything ive ever heard. The brothers both play drums at the same time as they play thier guitars(or banjo). They both have a kick pedal for a drum and a high hat so they have percussion, bass, banjo, and guitar. But dont think these guys are your regular bluegrass band, because they are nothing like that at all. Take blugrass, Rock, folk, punk, and a ton of emotion...put it together, and you still MIGHT come close to getting the sound that these guys create. Do yourself a favor, buy this album and SEE THEM LIVE."

"The Avett Brothers put on one of the best live shows I have ever seen. Don't let your jealousy get the best of you, buddy."

"This was the first Avett Brothers CD that I heard. I have never seen them live (although I will - in 2 weeks! can't wait!) I admit, there are times on this recording when they are pretty out of tune, and they are more yelling instead of singing. And the sound quality of the last couple songs is pretty bad. BUT, the sheer joy of playing for their fans came across so powerfully, and their raw energy just burst out of my speakers - and I was totally struck down with Avett Brothers fever. I have played this one ALOT. It's not for everyone, but if you want to take a chance on a "punk band with banjoes" give it a listen."
