CD ReviewsMy favorite Autumns CD, is the happiest, but not light Chad A. Lauterbach | Los Angeles, CA USA | 10/04/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "This album is my favorite from The Autumns, and one of my favorite albums of all time. It is probably the Autumns happiest work, except maybe their 50's remiscent Le Carlion; however the style variation is so vast on that CD the comparison is difficult. This album creates heavy, deep, passionate love atmosphers. Lost in the Gardens end and Angel Pool I have felt love this strong in few places on this planet. They creat their environments and atmospheres using electric guitars and feedback through multiple atmosphers. Their control over their instruments is phenomenal and deserving of far more notice. This band, local to Los Angeles, is relatively young. Check out their website for more album and tour info. If you are a music lover or love slow, spacey rock/pop you must check this out. Truly unique and inovative with influence from the Cocteu Twins, Nick Drake, and The Smith with a defiante UK influence." Why isn't this band HUGE? Chad A. Lauterbach | Los Angeles, CA USA | 10/17/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "This band creates poetic masterpieces and puts them to slow, beautiful melodic music with songs that run together throughout the whole CD. The music often make me think of Radiohead, but that probably isn't a great compairson. Nothing really is a great compairson. Some of the sounds remind me of ambient style music that Moby might create. Regardless, you may never have heard of this band, but I HIGHLY recomend them. You will listen to this album begining to end, over and over again." Outstanding B. Harris | Washington, D.C. | 06/05/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "I first heard this CD when it was recommended to me for someone who enjoyed bands such as The Church and Slowdive. The Autumns have produced an album here that fits perfectly within the ethereal pop/rock world in which bands such as those listed above exist.Soaring guitars and melodies, interspersed with a competent rhythm section and assorted bits of ambience, make this one of the best CDs I have heard recently in the "ethereal rock" category. "Sunblush", with its melancholy chorus and shimmering walls of guitars, sounds like Slowdive being played on a crisp Autumn afternoon, rather than a chilly winter evening. While "The Angel Pool", a quieter, acoustic-tinged piece, sounds like something which The Church would record. All in all, if you are a fan of the space/ambient rock genre, I cannot recommend this album highly enough. The Autumns moved towards a more folksy sound with their succeeding album, but here the balance between accessible rock and moodier, dramatic ambience is perfectly struck. Don't pass up this masterpiece."
