"everyone would be talking about Aunt Bettys and Michael Knott would be hailed as one of the more gifted songwriters of his generation. As it is, we live in a cruel and spiteful world and the Aunt Bettys have disbanded and Michael Knott continues to toil in obscurity. The band plays unabashed power chord rock star rock while Knott's lyrics gleefully skewer life as we know it. I looked the band up on AMG and was surprised that they labeled Knott as a Christian songwriter. Any religious connotations here must be hidden very deep beneath lyrics dealing with various addictions, particularly the hilarious Addict and the mournful Jane (the 3rd song I know about a drug addict named Jane-hmmmm). Other standouts include Suicide Sex Doll, Little Fighter, Star Baby, & Lush. Double is so sad it makes my stomach hurt. If somehow you've happened across this page, heed this & other reviews and give this CD a try before it disappears."
The greatest unknown cd ever!

"Scorching is the only way I can describe this disc. Mike Knott's characters come screaming through your speakers in all their tortured pain and glory and they don't stop till you're gasping for breath. His lyrics are disturbing but always thought provoking. He writes hooks that will stay with you long after the musics stops and you get the feeling he means it. From the opening lines to Jesus to the end of Rock and Roll your senses are assaulted with no thought of your safety. Mike is joined by Andrew Carter on guitar, Brian Doidge on bass, and Chuck Cummings on drums and they all kick. All songs are great but Jesus, Skinny Bones Jones and Lush especially rock. Lush will take you to places you may not want to go, or maybe you do! Either way you can't go wrong with this disc. Purchase and put the knobs at 11. Enjoy! Also recommend their second album "Ford Supersonic" if you can find it."
Michael Knott is brilliant. Andrew Carter is amazing.

Blatant Disregard and Sensitivity to and or of Society

"From the cannaballistic overtones of "Kitty Courtesy" (an urban legend which may hold sincere truth, according to Bassist Brian Doidge) to the in-your-face mockery of The Mega Band from England (Yeah, Mick and Keith, not those buggy guys...) of "Skinny Bones Jones", and the very first song to mention O.J. Simpson's "glove" incident (to my knowledge) which is titled simply "Rock And Roll", this album packed the potential of a mega hit, an over the top debut that never found the right promotional support. Mike Knott's vocals assault with an intensity that will cause breathlessness, and a melodic undertone that makes one say... "What's he really mean?" Coupled with a Jane's Addiction meets David Bowie in a head on collision and is still picking up the pieces sound, this album is a rollercoaster of emotion, from the sounds-like-a-lament-about-dropping-a-20-dollar-bill-and-pissing-off-a-"Mean pool shooter from across the town"-comment about what goes on in life put into a metaphor of what goes on in a bar at about 12:30am of "Double" to the realization of the current mental state of a Vietnam Vet in "Suicide Sex Doll" this album is, was and always will be in my personal top 5...On a final note, the album was completed between 1 & 2 years before its release, and probably would have done much better for the record company, and the band, had it been properly promoted... I still remember walking into see these guys perform live, looking at my buddy, and saying "This oughta be pretty damn good". When we left the club at 2am, he turned back to me, and said "F**kin' excellent"."
