"Of all the current recordings of this great opera, this is surely the best!! Nicola Ghiuselev offers a rich, sonorous Attila with great attention to drama; Silvano Carroli's Ezio shows us the great quality of an italian Verdi baritone, since his first duet with Attila to the great aria, Dagli inmortali vertici. Veriano Luchetti, so much underrecorded and underappreciated, gives the tenor role the place it deserves with superb legato, fine top notes, clear articulation of the text; last but not least, the star of this live recording is the soprano, Maria Chiara, who sings superbly, from her first line Santo di Patria!! to a ringing top D in the duet with Foresto, after the famous Liberamente or piangi, which is exquisitely sung, and her middle and low notes are very impressive, sometimes reminds me of the great Callas (if she had sung this role, of course). The recording is live, but a very good one, with noises of course but the voices forward and well captured by the microphones; for me it seems to be a broadcast recordings, barely you can sense the audience noise. I'm glad I bought it."
